Time has yet again gotten away from me. I feel bad not having written sooner, but when I think back about the CRAZY semester we survived I know why I'm just now getting around to writing. Question is where to begin so much has happened with our little family.

September, Lila turned 3 months and started becoming so much more interactive and less fussy. :)
She had already begun rolling over at 12 weeks (end of August) and was getting more and more mobile by the day. At the end of September Granny and Pappa came to San Antonio for a little visit. As always we thoroughly enjoyed their company. While they were here Lila went on her very first hike. We drove up to Fredericksberg and went to Enchanted Rock. Brent, Jeanne, and myself were all under the impression we were going for a short little walk/hike. You know 30 minutes to an hour or so. Well, Spencer had other plans and he was leading. Needless to say it took much longer than even he had anticipated. We weren't exactly ready for a 4+ hour hike with a 3 month old baby, but as always us Scott's made it work. This is a day I will not soon forget or let Spencer live down. Hahaha yet another Scott Adventure. By the time we finished we were all exhausted and starving. Jeanne and I wanted to shop, but all the little shops were closed...maybe next time.

Halloween night
October welcomed a new little friend for our Lila Jeanne. My best Friend, Madison, had her little girl on the 21st. Finely Mae Brown will be Lila's pen pal one day. I sure wish they could see each other and get to grow up together. Maybe time and distance won't be an issue. Keeping my fingers crossed for that one. October also has my second favorite holiday, Halloween! Spencer and I went to buy Lila her bumbo seat at a second hand store and while we were there they had costumes on sale. Spencer found a lobster costume and got the amazing idea for him and I to be lobster divers. So, that's what we did. Unfortunately, Halloween was a VERY warm night, so Lila didn't stay in her costume, but we got pictures and that's all that matters. Spencer also had the idea to drive out to the Boring Farm for Halloween. So, Spencer, mom, Lila and I all made the trip to Shiner to trick-or-treat with the Borings. We had a blast walking around the little town.

November, Lila saw her pediatrician who told us she had dropped down into a lower weight percentile. The doc was a little concerned, so she had us start her on solids twice a day. This of course freaked me out. I worried for weeks that my baby wasn't getting enough to eat. I tried and tried to get her to eat more with little to no success. Mom and Maia both reassured me she was fine and "that no baby has ever starved themselves." They told me she looks great and is super active showing that she is healthy and probably just dropped down because of how active she is. Thanks guys for your wisdom! She did finally decide she liked solids once we started giving her fruits and veggies. She now really only has interest in table foods, which is fine with me. Baby food is kind of a pain in my opinion. She loves to make BIG messes with her food especially now that she likes to feed herself. It goes EVERYWHERE. We pretty much expect bath time now after she eats. Hehehe. This month Lila was up on all fours rocking back and forth. We knew crawling was not far behind. In fact, on Thanksgiving she even managed to show off for everyone with taking a step forward before falling. Oh my busy little girl! Slow down! You are growing up much too fast! I say all the time that I gave birth to a toddler rather than a baby. She just learns and changes SO fast.

Thanksgiving was very nice. Spencer made it back from CA just in time for turkey. We were so happy that he could spend the holiday with us. I spent most of the morning and early afternoon baking 4 pies (Pecan, banana cream, chocolate cream and Dr. Pepper pumpkin) while Aunt Maia was on baby duty. All the pies turned out great as did dinner, of course. The Kreiger's joined The Emmons', Boring's, and Scotts's for dinner. We had a blast as usual.

Us Emmons' girls even got away for a minute to take some fun/sweet pictures for our mom. It's always crazy when the 3 of us get together. You just never know what we will say or do. I'm so very lucky to have the sisters that I do. They are 2 of my most cherished relationships. Thank you both for being who you are and for forgiving me for the not so nice things I may have done or said to you growing up. I love you both!

Awww, December! The craziest month of all, but it also brought a lot of relief and joy to our lives. Grandma Great came to visit at the beginning of the month. Lila had so much fun with her as we all did.

While Grandma was here Lila started to crawl. Yes, at only 5 1/2 months my little monkey was crawling! Not long after on Christmas Eve she started pulling herself up! Ever since she has been going full speed ahead. She always wants to be standing, so anything that looks like she might be able to pull herself up on she does. We've already had a few bonked heads and scratches from our tumbles. December was a BIG month for daddy too. He go an A in both Physics and Inorganic Chemistry. I have to add that he didn't just get an A in Physics, but he got the highest grade in his class!!! Amazing, right?!?! I'm soooo proud of him. Within the same week as taking his finals he also took his National Paramedic Test, which of course he passed! He said the test was very grueling, but he only had to "retake" one portion. They give you a second chance the same day to correct any mistakes, if you do, then you pass!!!! So, once we got through the middle of December it felt like we could be a family again. I got my husband back!

Then of course we had Christmas. Mom, Dad, Lila, and I all went to Shiner to spend a couple of days with the Boring's. We ate really well and had fun hanging out. Christmas Eve I baked cookies with the kiddos while Aunt Maia was on baby duty :) (We switched kids for a little while). Christmas Eve, Spencer had to work, but he was home Christmas Morning to see Lila open her presents from Santa Clause. She was spoiled as I knew she would be.

The end of December the three of us flew to Oregon to visit Granny and Pappa. We were able to spend a whole week there and celebrate New Years. We got to see our nephew, Gavin, while we were there. We had fun going up to Mt. Hood and tubing with him while Granny babysat. We really had a great time. We drove all over town getting to see Portland and the beautiful country surrounding it. We ate our way through Oregon all the while Lila was along for the ride. She did wonderful just going with the flow. We love our Granny and Pappa. It was fun watching Lila with them now that she is older and more interactive. She loved having Granny sing to her. We love you both so much! I couldn't ask for better In-Loves for me ;) or Grandparents for Lila Jeanne.

now I knew it was time to face reality. When we got back from our trip we started job hunting and making arrangements for me to work part-time. I got a job at Target close to Mom and Dad's house where we were going to move, but when I gave my two weeks notice my current job made arrangements for me to stay here. So, now I get to have 4 1/2 days a week with my baby instead of only two!!!! I'm so excited and so lucky to have a supportive husband to let me make that switch. Spencer also went on the job hunt hoping to get something closer to home and with benefits. We are still waiting to hear back from University Hospital, which is our first choice. It is the only level one trauma center in South Texas, so it would be an incredible experience for him plus it will look great on his medical school apps. Keeping our fingers crossed on that one too. We decided to stay in our apartment after all with the job offer they gave me plus we will be closer to work and there is less traffic down here. This past Saturday we took Lila to the zoo for her very first time. She had fun watching the monkeys and the Tiger and just being outside, which she always seems to love. We had fun with mom, dad and Grace too. It was nice that they got to come with us.

I feel like we are settling into our new life with our little girl. Life is good! Every day seems to hold a new adventure, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. We've gotten through a huge hurdle and would not have been able to do it without our families. I have to say thank you especially to my mom who has helped us immensely. Lila loves you so much and if she can't be with us during the day I'm glad she is with you. Our little Lila is such a happy baby. She hardly ever cries. She loves to just play and play. One of her favorite things is to play with Oskar (Mom's dog) and try to catch our cats. They all light her up with a big smile. I'm excited for the future and will hopefully write more often so they are not quite so long.
