One week before Lila's born
A lot has happened since the last blog update (obviously and hence the delay in writing. I've been a little busy. LOL). I had one more dr. appointment after my last post. I was 1cm, 70% effaced and at a 1 station for 2 weeks!!! At the last appointment the doctor had me schedule my induction for the following Thursday in case nothing happened in the mean time. I REALLY did not like the sound of that because I was trying to go med free and knew the pitocin to start labor would only make the contractions stronger and closer together. Dr. said if it was going to happen on its own it would most likely be that night after he had just checked me (I guess that usually jump starts labor). That evening we ran some errands and we went to the gym so I could walk on the treadmill. I was feeling kind of funny on our errands, but didn't think much of it at the time. Sure enough I was woken up that nigt at about 2:30am feeling crampy. I tried laying in bed and resting, but was just too excited to lay there thinking this could be it. I got up after about 30 minutes and decided to do the dishes and pick up the house just in case. I didn't want to come home to a dirty house (so typical of me). After all that contractions were getting stronger and closer together. I sat down to watch some tv and maybe sleep (ya right). Finally at about 6:15am I decided to wake Spencer up and let him know what was going on. He got up and got ready to go including loading up the car while I took a shower and shaved (yes, I shaved while I was in labor). I decided to eat a little cereal before leaving and this is when contractions started to get really bad. I got the birthing ball out and used that for a little while at home. Contractions now were about 3 1/2 to 4 minutes apart for the past hour and I was having a hard time talking through them (I was waiting to go to the hospital as long as possible because I did not want any meds). At about 10:30am I let Spencer know it was time to go.

Before and After
We were admitted to the hospital and I was checked at 4cm. My water broke when they checked me as well, which I guess made the contractions a little worse. I was a little panicky that it hurt so bad already and I was only at a 4. Grandma and Grandma Great met us at the hospital and we were taken to the labor and delivery room. The three of them were a great support. I sat on the birthing ball (awesome by the way) while Spencer rubbed my back and mom held my hand. I am a firm believer that moms truly make things better. Not sure why that is because I was still in a lot of pain, but my mom was there so it was okay. I was checked again at 2pm after the dr. had come in to check on me and was at a 7!!!! Now I started to get a little scared because transition is supposed to be the worst part of labor and it was. Maia and Grace came to visit in labor and delivery. They helped a ton too, especially Maia seeing as how she is a pro. She gave me some pointers to try to make me feel better and was just there to hold my hand and feed me ice chips. I did ask for drugs at this point, but thanks to my awesome support team was talked out of it. :) At 5pm the dr. came back again and checked me. I was at a 10!!!!!

At this point they had me start pushing. Maia and Grace had to leave, but Spencer, Mom and Grandma all got to stay while I pushed. How cool that all 4 generations were there in the delivery room when she was born?!?! Such a coool experience. I did a "trial" push first to see if Lila would start coming down and she did. I only had 3 pushes before her head was out. One more push and we had the most beautiful baby girl I have ever seen! She came out just perfect. She was born 6/14/12 at 5:54pm 6lbs. 11oz and 18 1/2 in. long. She was wide awake and very alert and has been ever since. She came out ready to see the world. Spencer cut the cord and I got to hold her right away. I'm so happy that Lila was healthy and perfect. I get so teary eyed everytime I think of her birth. It was such a beautiful experience and I'm so happy I could do it with no meds so I was completly there in mind and body for the most amazing event of my life.

Father's Day at Grandma and Poppy's House (Uncle Brent got a hold of her hair)
We got to bring her home in time for Father's Day and went over to my parents house to celebrate all the dads including the newest one, Spencer! Spencer is such a good daddy. He's so patient with her. I tell him he must have the magic touch because she will fuss for me and I can't get her to take naps, but as soon as dad has her she passes out and is such a good baby. LOL. Everyone says she looks just like her dad except her mouth. They even sleep exactly the same way. We are having so much fun with her. It has been quite an adventure and life changer, but worth every minute. We are just now starting to get 3-4 hour stretches of sleep at night and she is 6 1/2 weeks. I have to say those first 3 weeks were very hard, but thanks to our moms, my sisters, and my neices we made it! Raising a baby is not a one person job. We love you Lila Jeanne with all our hearts!!!!
