19 week sonogram 1/23/12

Our doctor's visit on 1/18/12 had a little change of plans, which was a big let down that day.  I showed up at the doctor's office with Spencer (dad), Mom (Grandma), and Grandma (Great) ready to find out what we are having.  Welp, to our dismay we were told the sonographer would be in on Monday 1/23/12 instead and that we would have to wait for the sonogram.  The four of us were able to hear the heartbeat, which for dad and Great this was the first time hearing it.  Doctor said everything sounded good and I looked to be progressing just fine.  It was a very short appointment and we were on our merry way.  The four of us had lunch afterwards, which made for a very nice day!  I'm glad Baby Scott is doing well, but a little disappointed that Great will not get to be there on Monday for the sonogram as she has to go home to Arizona.
First Sonogram at 9 weeks

Well we of course had LOTS of people waiting to hear the news after the sonogram, so I texted everyone to let them know they'd have to wait 5 DAYS to find out.  5 days may not seem like a very long time, but when you are anxious to find out how that little munchkin is doing and what that little munchkin is, it feels like a lifetime.  Luckily we were moving to a bigger apartment that week/weekend so I was able to keep quite busy until Monday morning.
Monday 1/23/12 at 10am FINALLY came and this time we went to the doctor's office, minus Great, to find out how our little love bug was doing.  I was nervous as I always am to go to the doctor.  This being a mom stuff makes you worry a lot as I'm finding out.  Our sonographer was very nice and showed us all the body parts of Baby Scott.  Our little one was moving around tons and tons, so the sonographer finally asked what I'd eaten for breakfast.  I told her I had drank some orange juice and she said that's whats making our baby move so much.  While she was looking at our munchkin I could feel all her kicks and jabs, which I'm scared may be a sign of things to come. hehehe  We got to see the face head on, profile, ribs, heart, spine, fingers, toes, and even the lips.  It was the coolest thing I've ever seen or done.  It is just such a miracle!!! I've been on cloud nine ever since!

Profile, Oh how we've grown!

So after all the looking at our baby the last thing the sonographer did was look at whether we were having a boy or girl.  She asked if we had a preference and Spener and I both chimmed in and said, no we just want a healthy, happy baby.  She said wonderful and continued looking between the legs.  The suspense was killing me until she finally said look there that little hamburger sign, do you see it?  I said yes and she wrote on the screen, "It's a Girl!!!!"  We are so happy words cannot describe how we feel.  We have our work cut out for us in the next 5 months finding a name.  We cannot seem to find a girls name that we both just love, but there is lots of time still.
It's a girl!!!

I was also very happy to hear that the baby is growing right in line with our due date of June 16th.  I've been very worried because my entire immediate family here in San Antonio is leaving June 22nd for Colorado on vacation and a softball tournament.  Here's hoping that Baby Girl Scott (her new name until we can come up with one) comes before they head off to Colorado.
Next on the agenda registering for baby stuff, get signed up for classes, and finding a name!  Can't wait, I am enjoying every moment of this! :)

The First of Many

Thanks to my wonderful sister, Maia, I am able to start the Great Scott Family Journal.  This may be my first post, but there have been many adventures in the lives of Spencer and Tahnee over the past 5 years.  However, the start of this blog is for our biggest adventure yet....a new addition to our little family!!!  We are so excited and ready to welcome this little one to our lives.  It's been a rollercoaster ride just getting to this point, but now that we are here we are counting every blessing.
Baby Scott, which is what we are calling our little one until we know the gender, will be coming into a busy life.  Daddy will be going to school full time, pre-med, and mommy will be working full time.  Luckily we have Grandma and two aunts within 20 minutes to help out when ever needed.  I am also very lucky that my job is at the leasing office of the apartments where we live.  This will make it nice to see Baby Scott whenever I want/need during the day.
Little baby bump at 16 weeks
Next up in our busy lives is our ultra sound!!!!  We are going this Wednesday, January 18, 2012.  Hopefully Baby Scott will not be shy and we will get to find out what we are having, Boy or Girl?!?!?!  Spencer is hoping for a little boy and mommy of course would love a little girl, but as long as it is a healthy baby it's fine by me!  We are expecting Baby Scott around June 16, 2012!!!!
